Privacy Policy

This is the personal portfolio of Mayowa Durojaiye, a freelance writer based in Ontario, Canada. This page explains what happens to your data when you visit it. The short version: this site counts visits anonymously, without cookies, and does not track you as a person.

What this site collects

Anonymous visit counts, and nothing else. The site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views: which pages are read, which site or search engine sent the visit, and your country, browser, operating system and device type. It uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Visits are grouped using a hash that changes every day, so you are not recognised from one day to the next or across other websites, and no profile of you is built.

There are no advertising pixels, no third-party tracking scripts, and no forms on the public pages. Nothing is sold or shared with advertisers.

Web fonts are served from this site rather than from Google Fonts, so simply loading a page does not tell a third party that you were here.

What happens automatically

Like any website, requests pass through a hosting provider that keeps standard server logs. These typically include your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user-agent string. They exist to serve the site and to diagnose faults and abuse, they are not used to build a profile of you, and they are not linked to anything else.

Cookies

The public site sets no cookies, including for analytics. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

One cookie exists on this domain: a sign-in session for the private admin area, set only when the site owner logs in to publish. It is never set for visitors.

Who processes data on my behalf

• Vercel — hosting and analytics. Handles requests, keeps the server logs described above, and provides the anonymous visit counts.
• Neon — the database and image storage behind the site, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt). It stores the articles and portfolio entries themselves, not information about readers. Loading a page fetches images from this provider.

Embedded content

Articles may embed material from other services. Embedded content behaves as though you had visited that site directly, so its own privacy policy applies.

• YouTube videos use the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie domain, and contact YouTube only if you press play.
• X (Twitter) posts are shown as plain links, not live embeds. X’s tracking script is deliberately not loaded, so nothing is sent to X unless you choose to follow the link.

If you email me

The contact links open your own email client — this site does not intercept or store the message. If you write to me, I hold your email and its contents in my mailbox so that I can reply and keep a record of the work we discuss. I do not add you to a mailing list.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the Nigeria Data Protection Act and, for readers in Europe, the GDPR — you may have the right to ask what personal data I hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Because the analytics are anonymous and this site holds nothing else about readers, in practice that will usually only concern an email you have sent me.

Changes

If this site ever adds a contact form, changes its analytics, or adds anything else that collects data, this page will be updated before that goes live, and the date at the top will change.
